Blood Parrot Cichlid

(The First Tank Guide)

Blood Parrot Cichlids can be very interesting fish, but even more than a decade after their introduction to the pet trade there is still controversy surrounding these fish. And that's available even for specimens that, like this one, have not been injected with dye! Since these fish are deformed, they can have trouble competing for food or avoiding aggressors, and with their own aggressive nature, finding suitable tank mates can often be a challenge.

"Thank you for this site. I used to consider myself "experienced" with keeping fish since I read a couple of books about tropical aquariums and kept a tank for about 5 years, but after going through just about every page on your site it became clear to me that I was seriously lacking in the expertise required to keep these wonderful animals as pets. The advice you give is logical and makes sense."
